BLOOD SPIDERS OPT IN/OPT OUT
If Cangrande’s blood is injected into or ingested by another person, the nanomachines in it can modify a person’s brain in various ways. These cannot be used for things like mind control or targeted memory blocks or alterations, but instead attack different brain functions in more overarching ways. Some examples:
Cangrande’s blood can be set to modify multiple neurological functions at once, but once it is set to those modifications, all of his blood can only perform those modifications. If Cangrande poisons one person to remove their moral inhibitions + instill them with a reward dispenser for committing violent acts, and then afterwards wants to give someone else amnesia, he would have to take a full day to reset and recalibrate his blood inside his body before it could do anything but moral block murderbot to anyone. After that, his blood could then wipe memories as he sees fit (and then can only wipe memories, until he resets it to do something else again). The effects can be tailored to last anywhere from 1-2 hours to permanent.
If you do you not want ANY chance of Cangrande getting his blood in your character, please comment to opt-out and I'll steer clear of it completely! If you would be potentially interested, but have specific hard nos, then you can let me know now if you want and I can keep those in mind going forward.
If you are DEFINITELY interested in this possibly happening to your character, please do comment to opt-in so I can start rubbing my grubby little hands together!
Regardless of whether you've replied to this post or not, if Cangrande has an opportunity to mess with your character's head, I will contact you beforehand to hash out the details. Cangrande's powers are EXTREMELY flexible and can therefore be tailored for Maximum Fun on the victim player's end, so I will always discuss options first.
—while Cangrande can’t make someone forget lunch last Tuesday and ONLY lunch last Tuesday, he can perform a complete memory wipe, attack skill 'memory' such as removing someone's capacity for language or knot-tying, or damage their short-term memory so they will have even more trouble remembering why they walked into a room than usual.
—reduced inhibitions, potentially different kinds. Cangrande could remove someone’s aversion to danger and make them very reckless, or take away their brain-to-mouth filter so they’re more likely to spill all their secrets.
—reward chemicals being released. This could make someone feel good when they do as they’re told and make them more compliant, or it could make them feel good when they commit violent acts. This can only be used to reward things that the brain processes as similar to one another (such as everything that causes an adrenaline spike, or every time a person speaks) and can’t be used to reward them if they do or say something very specific (like ONLY jumping off a cliff, or ONLY saying the phrase “dancing monkeys”).
—removing any particular emotion, like love, hate, joy, sorrow, guilt, etc.
